According to a new CNBC report, the Lone Star State has been ranked the No. 2 worst state to live in America for 2026, with Tennessee taking the top spot.
The report says that while Texas continues to attract thousands of new residents every year because of jobs and business opportunities, many people are facing challenges once they arrive.
CNBC points to several factors behind the ranking, including:
Access to healthcare
Crime
Worker protections
Inclusiveness
Reproductive rights
The report also notes that Texas has the nation's highest percentage of uninsured residents, with nearly 17% of Texans lacking health insurance. It also ranks last in the number of primary care doctors per person, making access to healthcare more difficult for many families.
On the positive side, CNBC highlighted childcare options and air quality as areas where Texas performed well.
The full Top 10 includes:
Tennessee
Texas
Indiana
Louisiana
Georgia
Utah
Missouri
Alabama
Oklahoma
Arkansas
So...what do you think?
