Christian hip hop is a subgenre of contemporary Christian music and hip hop music. It emerged from urban contemporary music and Christian media in the 1980s. This week on the show we stop and talk to DJ Kojack about the state of CHH, why he left mainstream hip-hop and what makes the genre so explosive. What is it like being a CHH DJ? "Man, it's a blessing. When you doing something for God it is a good feeling doing it" Says DJ Kojack. But, the journey for him wasn't easy. When he for started he still was straddling the fence and working in mainstream venues. It wasn't until he got full custody of his kids that God got his attention and he surrounded into his calling. First picking up the art of the DJ at the young age of 9, he was inspired by the local heros in hip hop. In the early days of Dj'ing some churches wouldn't let the genre into their churches b/c of the look of the hip hop lifestyle. It was then he learned how to blend and mix hip-hop music with the word.
