This past weekend “The Not So Christian In Me Show” host Southern Girl Deniece was giving the opportunity to attend this year’s Grammy Awards among other weekend festivities. Among those festivals she was invited to attend Houston, TX Rapper Scarface Performance at the Miracle Theater in Inglewood, CA. Scarface performance included his band from Houston. "They all sound Amazing," Deniece said. He even sung with the band. On top of that Legendary Hype Man Flavor Flav from the rap group Public Enemy made a guest appearance. "He still got it on them drums. " Deniece said. Flavor Flav was nominated for the Lifetime Achievement Award at the Grammys. It was an honor for Southern Girl to meet him. Also, a Saxophone Musician from New Orleans came to the show with his Saxophone and was asked by Scarface to come on stage to play and this young fellow killed it.
During the Grammys Southern Girl Deniece was able to reconnect with Debbie Allen who once mentored her. Debbie Allen Choreograph the Farewell tribute to Grammy Executive Producer Ken Ehrlich. The tribute included several high-caliber artists who performed together to the song “I Sing the Body Electric” from the 1980 Academy Award-winning film Fame.
There were a number of other tributes throughout the night, but the one that stood out the most was the honoring of the late basketball great Kobe Bryant, who died unexpectedly Sunday in a helicopter crash. Everyone pulled together very quickly in a few hours before the award ceremony.
Overall this year show was filled with happiness and sadness and we all realized that life is short and we need to cherish every moment. -Southern Girl Deniece
