Meryl Streep was honored at 74th Golden Globe Awards for a lifetime of work. During her acceptance speech she used her platform to discuss the backgrounds of the people who make up Hollywood, President elect Donald Trump, and protecting the press.
The Devil Wears Prada actress said, watching Donald Trump imitate a disable reporter was heartbreaking to watch,
"It was one performance this year that stunned me, it snaked its hooks in my heart, not because it was good, there was nothing good about it, but it was effective and did its job. It made its intended audience laugh and show their teeth. It was that moment when the person asking to sit in the most respected seat in our country imitated a disabled reporter, someone he outranked in privilege, power and the capacity to fight back."
In the 5;30 minute speech, Streep also said when people in they public eye humiliate others and get away with it, it opens up the doors for others to be discriminated against in their everyday lives. "This instant to humiliate when its modeled by someone in the public platform by someone powerful . It filters down into everybody's life because it kind of gives permission for others to do the same thing."
This speech did not sit well with the reality star. He took to Twitter per usual to defend his actions and attack the actress referring to Streep as a "Hillary flunky who lost big" check out the tweets below,
