7 Year Old Raises Over $10,000 For Flint Sanitation

In 2014, Flint, Michigan changed their water supplies, causing corrosive water from the Flint River to leach lead from pipes, contaminating the city’s water supply.

When seven-year-old, Isiah Britt, learned about the crisis, he knew he had to do something to help out. Britt contacted the principal at Eisenhower Elementary in Flint, where he learned students were actually afraid to wash their hands!

With the help of his parents, Isiah has set up a GoFundMe campaign to raise money to send hand sanitizer to the school. His goal was to raise $500 which is enough to supply one case of hand sanitizer for each classroom at Eisenhower Elementary. In just over two weeks the second grader has surpassed his expectations by raising over $10,000. He raised enough to supply all classrooms in the 12 elementary schools in Flint, allowing every grades school student in the city access to sanitizer.

“It doesn’t matter if you’re small, it doesn't mean you can't do big things." Said Britt in this video announcing their accomplishments. He also thanks everyone who donated reminding them that they all deserve a pat on the back.

We all can learn a little something from this second grade kid from Virginia, who proves you're never to small to make a difference!
